Are You Stomping the Competition?

Stomping on your fellow bidder’s bids will not win you any friends. However, it might win you some auctions on DealDash. No one likes stompers, it’s a fact. If you’re new, you might have been playing mind games by stomping without even realizing that you were doing it.

In case you weren’t aware, a stomper is someone who bids immediately after you place your bid. This cheats you out of your clock time that DealDash generously gives to the highest bidder in every auction. If you’re brand new, which people can see from your start date, they will be more likely to be forgiving that you are stomping them. However, they might stomp you back a few times to show you that it’s a rude bidding behavior.

If you’re looking to play mind games, this is a good way to start. Getting your bids stomped on is a very frustrating feeling. If a person becomes frustrated enough they might just back out of the auction and try a different one.

Coming and Going in an Auction

Do you know what else is frustrating? When you have been in an auction for the long haul, determined to either win or BIN (Buy It Now) the auction, and another bidder repeatedly enters and leaves the auction. This can be an excellent mind game to play, especially if you vary the times that you enter and leave.

For instance, you might enter the auction and just place 5 bids and leave. Then enter again a bit later and place 75 bids and leave, ectera. If the people in the auction don’t know if you’re going to place just a few bids or a larger number of bids it can make things very frustrating for them. Bidder Avatars

There are some rules about what sorts of pictures that you may upload on DealDash, the official rule on avatars is the following…

“Please don’t try to intimidate others or post misleading content, bid count, links, emails, etc. Thank you!”

It says very clearly that you are not allowed to post “intimidating” pictures, however, it doesn’t say that you aren’t allowed to have an avatar of your favorite items to bid on.

For example, if Legos are your favorite item to bid on you might want to have a picture of a Lego as your avatar. Or perhaps you are a musician, you might want to have a picture of a music note as an avatar. Trust me, if I entered into an auction for Legos or a guitar with either of the above avatars I would probably back out pretty quickly. If someone likes something enough to make it their avatar, well, they probably want it more than I do.

Stompers Play With Your Mind

No one likes Stompers. Stompers are someone who bids immediately after you cheating you out of your clock time. This can be done accidentally, of course, but if it happens over and over again you know that they are doing it on purpose.

When someone stomps on your bid it probably frustrates you. If you’re frustrated enough and you haven’t put in very many bids you just may back out of the auction. Stompers might be annoying and make you feel unhappy, but it’s 100% allowed. That’s one of the great things about DealDash – you can play however you like as long as you follow the House Rules.

How They Try to Make You Crazy With Mind Games

Most people think about romantic relationships when the phrase “mind games” comes up. However, mind games are also a common theme on DealDash.

What’s in a name? Did you think carefully about your bidding name when you signed up to DealDash? I can tell that some people thought very seriously about their name before they signed up, and their main thought was either to gain sympathy with a name such as “SingleMomof12Kids” or “WoundedKittenRescuer” or to intimidate with names like “IwillBiduntiltheApocalypse” or “IwillBiteyouIfyouBidafterMe”.

Other people take a different track, but still in the realm of playing mind games – have you seen anyone with a name such as “IonlyBidonlaptops” or “GiveMeAlltheMixers”? This track is slightly more subtle than the sympathy or intimidation names, but it gets the point across. If you were in an auction for a set of drums, and it was down to the final two, and your competition’s name was “ImADrummer” who do you think is definitely going to go to the end? I would bet my money on the person who has based their entire DealDash experience on the fact that they are a drummer.

If you’re looking for an even more subtle way to play mind games on your competition I suggest using a combination of your BidBuddy and single bids. If you aren’t using your BidBuddy regularly I strongly encourage you to give it a try. It’s really simple to use, each auction page has the bid button that says “Bid Now” and the BidBuddy, which is below the bid now button. Click your mouse on the white area and enter the number of bids you want to use and click “Book a BidBuddy” your BidBuddy will now be set. The BidBuddy will bid up to the number of bids that you booked. Most people are familiar with the BidBuddy, so if you are in an auction and you are using your BidBuddy but you start throwing in random bids here and there it can really throw people off.

A bold way to play mind games with your competition can actually earn you free bids! After you have won and received your auctions you can get free bids by taking a photo of yourself holding the win and posting the picture on social media with a quick message like “I got this -name of item won here- @DealDash for -number of bids used- bids & $ -final auction price-. #DealDash also gives #FREE shipping!” If you are looking to play mind games with people then only pick the biggest and best prizes that you have won and put them on social media. That way, people think that you always go to the limit and win big! Think about it, would you be more impressed with someone who won a bunch of $20 DVDs and small household items or people than seem to continuously win laptops and other high-end prizes? If you skip posting your small wins and only stick with your over $200 prizes then people will assume you “go big or go home”.
