Winning for yourself is fun, but why not do some good? Use DealDash to help yourself be a do-gooder.

DealDash is here to auction off amazing items, but once you have everything that you need why not give back to your community? DealDash can help you get some items that would be much appreciated by the less fortunate members in your community. All of us who use “entertainment shopping” such as DealDash are fortunate that we have enough money in our budget to have fun and shop. Some people don’t have any extra room in their budget after they have the basics. Why not be a “do-gooder” and win some things to donate?

Identify Who Needs Your Help

There are many different types of people and organizations in your community who would benefit from a donation. Before you start bidding, you should make a list of the type of items that you are hoping to win and donate. For example, if you live in a very hot climate such as Texas or Florida and want to win clothing to give to the less fortunate, then you should probably stay away from the heavy jackets and sweaters.

Some examples of people and organizations who could benefit from donations are:

Food Banks. Food banks often offer items other than food to the people who use them, such as personal hygiene and grooming supplies. They could also use the $10 gift cards for fast food that DealDash often offers for auction.

Department of Social Services. DSS can always use donations of baby supplies, personal hygiene items, and toys. When babies, kids, and teens are removed from their home they often have to spend hours at DSS waiting to either be returned to their parents or taken to a foster home. A soft plush toy or a fun game can help them take their mind of their situation for a little while.

Want Your Donation to be More Personal?

If you like the idea of being a do-gooder and donating some of your wins but don’t like the idea of donating to an organization, I have a solution. Churches are often one of the first places that a family turns when they are in trouble. Even if you are not religious or associated with a church, you can still find a recipient of your generosity there. Simply call the church office during the week and explain that you would like to donate to a needy family in their parish. They will be very happy to match you up with a family and you can know that your donation is making a very big difference in the life of a family in your own community.

Hello August – Time For a Summer Party!

Happy August everyone! Get the grill ready, it’s time for a summer party!

I hate to say it, but it seems like the summer is just slipping away so quickly. Here it is, already August! I hope that you have your family has been enjoying the summer so far. Start the Party Preparations

Other than the grilling basics, you need to decide what else you’ll be serving, and if you’ll be making it yourself, buying it prepared, or trying to convince your Aunt Sue to make her potato salad. Once you’ve decided the menu and if you’ll be preparing it, then it’s time to make a shopping list.

Be Sure the Grill is Ready

If you’ve been using your grill all summer long, then you probably don’t have to worry about this item too much. It would be wise of you to check the amount of gas or charcoal that you have left, though, because it certainly would be disappointing to run out during your party.

Oops I Did it Again…On DealDash!

No one is perfect, and that includes bidding on DealDash. Here are some things you might want to avoid while bidding.

Don’t Jump In too Late

A mistake that I see people often make on DealDash is entering an auction when it has almost reached the $5 No Jumper Limit. Now, this is completely allowed, of course, but I still think that this is a strategic mistake. Why? Because if they auction is down to just 2 or 3 people and it has almost reached the $5 No Jumper Limit then those few people feel kind of an “ownership” over this particular auction and probably won’t let it go without a fight.

I have seen many people say that they will overbid past the BIN (Buy It Now) because they know that the person who just joined the auction will most likely bid for a while. Bidding past the BIN price is risky, but some people just can’t resist trying to rack up more “clock time” with the TATHB (Time As The Highest Bidder) perk.

Not Letting Your Buddy Help

Do you use the BidBuddy in each and every auction? You should! The BidBuddy is there to help you win against your competition, why wouldn’t you use him? By using the BidBuddy, you have the best chance at winning the auction.

The BidBuddy is just as easy (if not easier) to use than single bidding. Simply fill him up with as many bids that you would like to spend on an auction and let him work his magic. Don’t make the mistake of not using the BidBuddy – he’s free and available to use on every auction.

Don’t Throw Away Your Bids! Use BIN!

While there is always a winner in each and every DealDash auction, it won’t always be you. If you try to only bid on things that you would normally buy at the store such as clothing, then you can BIN them if you don’t win. BINning an auction just takes a click of the button. After you’re done bidding and would like to BIN the item, just click the “Buy It Now” button, and after you have paid you will receive all of your bids back in your account. DealDash Heroes: United States Air Force

Welcome to the newest DealDash series, DealDash Heroes! Today we are going to be talking a little bit about the United States Air Force.

The United States Air Force is one of the seven branches of American uniformed services that also includes the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and finally, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps. All of these branches of uniformed services are extremely important, but today we are going to focus on the Air Force. Here is a little bit more information about the Air Force, their history, and their importance to our country.

Air Force History

The Air Force originally started as a branch of the Army and became its own entity on September 18th of 1947. The Air Force is the most recent branch of our military to be formed. You probably aren’t surprised to know that the Air Force is in charge of protecting our air and space, did you know that they are also responsible for protecting our cyber space as well? As the most recent and technically savvy branch of the United States Military, the Air Force is in charge of keeping us safe from cyber criminals.

Presidental Airmen

We have two former presidents who were also in the Air Force. In 1937, Ronald Reagan enlisted as a reservist in the Air Force and was ordered to active duty in April 1942. He left active duty at the rank of captain on December 9, 1945. Ronald Reagan was part of a special unit that made films for the Air Force. By the time Ronald Reagan’s enlistment was over, his unit had produced over 400 training films for the Air Force.

Our other presidential airman was George W. Bush, who joined the Texas Air National Guard of the U.S. Air Force in 1968. George W. Bush trained as a fighter pilot, and in 1973 was transferred to the Air Force Reserve. George W. Bush was honorably discharged at the rank of first lieutenant in 1974.

The Air Force Tracks Santa

Starting in December of 1955, there were ads in the newspaper telling kids that they could call Santa to find out his current location. The ads included a phone number. The number that was listed in the ads actually called the U.S. Air Defense Command. The colonel on duty ordered his team to give all kids information on jolly old St. Nick’s “current location.” This tradition now handles calls from over 200 countries, and also offers online tracking as well.

How Can We Thank the Air Force Airmen?

The airmen (and women, but they are all called airmen) are brave individuals that protect our freedom. We should all be grateful to them and show our appreciation for their selfless acts of courage. How can we show our appreciation to our Air Force airmen?

There are a few ways that you can thank airmen in the air force. There is a wonderful website that you can visit called http://anyairman.com. This website will give you the address of a random airman so that you can send them a letter, card or care package. You can also choose to donate any amount of money, large or small, on the website that will be used to make care packages for airmen.

Another way that you could help an airman is to contact your local veteran’s hospital and ask if you could visit or volunteer. Some veterans that are in the hospital don’t get any visitors, and this would be a wonderful way to show your appreciation.

I have only earned a few of these badges so far. However, my favorite one that I’ve earned is the “Going the Distance” badge. When you earn this badge it will tell you how many bids that you’ve placed on DealDash in total. It was fun to see how many bids that I have placed since I have been on DealDash.
