DealDash Says Goodbye to August

Can you believe today is the last day of August? To many people this symbolizes the end of the summer season. Let’s look back at our summer.

It’s been quite a summer, so many different things have been happening all over the world this summer. Here is a quick re-cap of the exciting things that have happened over the past few months.

In June the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. It was a very tight vote, leaving won by 52% to 48%. The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting. This might not seem like it’s very relevant to us leaving here in the USA, but when something this important happens it’s effects are likely to be felt around the world, especially in financial ways.

In July, in a 4+ year journey to the solar system’s largest planet, NASA’s Juno spacecraft successfully entered Jupiter’s orbit. The Juno spacecraft launched on Aug. 5, 2011 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.  Juno will orbit Jupiter 37 times in all. One trip around Jupiter takes Juno about 14 days. Juno’s mission is important, because Juno is doing this trip to help us learn more about our solar system; and what we learn could help us find more new planets!

In August, of course, were the Summer Olympic games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. 11,303 athletes took part, and luckily,  the United States dominated the medal table for the fifth time in the past six Summer Olympics, winning the most golds (46) and most medals overall (121).

I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer! Want to Win More Auctions? Try These Suggestions…

What can you do to win more auctions on DealDash? Win, win, WIN with these tips.

If you’re a newbie who just signed up today, or a seasoned DealDash veteran, everyone could stand to brainstorm every now and again on ways to get more auction wins. When you stop trying new things your wins grow stagnant. Here are a few tips that will help you get more wins, or at least help you start brainstorming some new techniques.

  • Make sure that you have enough bids to BIN (Buy It Now) if you don’t win the auction. By having enough bids available in your DealDash account to BIN the item, it means that you won’t have to stop in the middle of the auction to buy more bids. I personally have made the mistake of not having enough bids available to BIN, and in the time that it took to switch over to the section to buy bids, select a bid pack, put in my credit card number, and switch back to the auction I had lost. You may think that you have time to buy bids during an auction, but you just never know. Be prepared, be stocked up on bids!
  • Keep a list of “overbidders.” I have a list of people that I have either personally come up against or have observed overbid in auctions. There are a few people I have in mind that only go after certain auctions, and in these particular auctions they are not only “all in”, they are MORE than all in, bidding more than the item is worth. If you keep a list in a program like Excel you can add to the list, highlight the list, and then sort by A-Z, so you can quickly look up different bidders names when you enter in an auction. If you notice any of the overbidders in the auction don’t put any bids in. Just wait and watch the auction for a few minutes. Sometimes it seems that these overbidders just throw a few bids in and then come back later. If you see that they aren’t bidding anymore you might be able to win the auction before they come back in. Just wait and watch, then make your move.
  • Bid on gift cards. Bidding on gift cards might not help you win that particular auction, but you can always BIN, get your bids back, AND get to keep your “time as highest bidder” earning you more bids to win an auction the next time around. Bide your time, be patient, and bid on gift cards to earn clock time towards free bids.

These are just a few tips to help get you thinking about new ways to bid and win more auctions on DealDash! We all want to win, it pays to be a strategist. I hope that this article has been helpful for you. Be sure to check out DealDashBlog every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday for more tips and articles to help you understand DealDash. Happy National Senior Citizen’s Day from DealDash

Tomorrow, August 21st is National Senior Citizen Day. I’m sure you know a few senior citizens, let’s take a moment to honor our elders.

Take a moment to think – who are some important senior citizens in your life? Maybe your parents or even your grandparents are still with us, perhaps you have an elderly neighbor, friend, teacher, or other person in your life that you would like to celebrate on Senior Citizen Day.

Do you know where the term “senior citizen” started? It was actually started during a 1938 political campaign as a euphemism for “elder person,” and is now known everywhere. Some dictionaries define the term “senior citizen” as a person over the age of 65.

Legally, the term senior citizen applies to the age at which pensions, social security or medical benefits for the elderly become available. Here in the USA, traditionally people have been eligible to retire with full Social Security benefits at age 65. Additionally, one can retire early at age 62 and receive a portion of their retirement benefits.

Now that we have defined the term, let’s think of ways that we can show appreciation to our oldest of friends and family. You could get them a card, of course. Everyone appreciates a card now and then. Flowers are always appreciated as well, especially by the ladies.

Another way that you could show your favorite senior how much you love them is to come over and cook dinner for them. How about bringing over some delicious steaks and grilling them for your parents or grandparents? DealDash always has some grills up for auction. If you want to see the items that are related to grills and grilling on DealDash just click here.

If you would really like to make a senior’s day, how about teaching them how to use DealDash? Most of the senior citizens that I know all own computers, smart phones, and even iPads. Why not show our favorite elders how to have fun and win wonderful deals on DealDash?

I hope that this article has given you some ideas on how to make a senior’s life a little brighter. Make sure that you have a plan in place for honoring your favorite seniors, and then check out DealDash. Remember, these senior citizens paved the way for us, so be kind to them. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

Knowing When to Say “I Need to BIN.”

Sadly, we can’t all win every auction all the time. If we did, DealDash wouldn’t be able to stay viable for very long! Here is a simple guide to know when it’s time to say “I need to BIN.”

Unless you are just throwing a few bids on auctions here and there not really expecting to win, just hoping to get lucky, you most likely are bidding in an auction to win. No matter who you are, though, there will always be a person who either has more bids to use than you do, or are not as careful with their bids as you, or just someone who is just flat-out more stubborn than you are.

No matter who you are and how many bids you have available to use, realistically,  no one can win all of the auctions that they participate in on DealDash, or any other auction site. Luckily, DealDash has an amazing feature available to all of us called BIN, also known as “Buying It Now.”

Deal Dash wants all of their bidders to be happy and feel good about bidding, so they created BIN. With BIN, if you have bid too much and are not going to win you can purchase the item at the retail price that is listed on each and every auction page, and have all of the bids that you spent on the auction returned to your account.

Knowing when to BIN instead of continuing to bid is an important skill to cultivate – there are few things more frustrating than doing the math after the auction is over and realizing that you spent far too many bids and should have used DealDash’s BIN feature instead.

When you know your limits and stick to them, playing and shopping at DealDash is always an awesome experience that will help you win great deals or be able to buy items at a fair price and have them shipped to you for free. Good Luck and Happy Bidding, everyone!
