Rachael Ray Knows Her Way Around a Kitchen!

Who pops into your head when someone mentions the Food Network? I’ll bet Rachael Ray is in your top 3 that you think of! She’s everywhere!

Most people might recognize Rachael Ray as a celebrity chef on the Food Network. She was born on August 25, 1968 in New York, and has been around restaurants all of her life, thanks to her mom who was a restaurant manager when Rachel was young. She is also an author as well as hosting the syndicated daily talk and lifestyle program Rachael Ray, and three Food Network series: 30 Minute Meals, Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels, and $40 a Day.

One of the most interesting things that I found out about Rachael Ray is that in 2007, The Oxford American College Dictionary announced the addition of the term EVOO, short for extra-virgin olive oil, which Ray had helped to popularize, and credited her with coining the phrase. This phrase started on her television programs, she has used catchphrases such as “E-V-O-O” (extra-virgin olive oil) as well as a few others that haven’t caught on quite as much such as  “stoup” (cross between a soup and stew), and “choup” (thicker than a soup but thinner than a chowder).

Why am I telling you all about Rachael Ray? Well, if you like her products then you should see what DealDash has for you! DealDash offers many of her high quality products such as Stoneware Oil and Vinegar Bottles, 3.5-quart stoneware covered rectangular casserole dish, and my personal favorite, the Hard Enamel 10pc Cookware set in 2-tone red.  I got this cookware set from DealDash right around the time that I was moving, and it was one of the very first things that I unpacked when I moved in.  This set includes: 1 Qt. Covered Saucepan, 2 Qt. Covered Saucepan, 6 Qt. Covered Stockpot, 3 Qt. Covered Saute, 8.5″ Skillet, and 10″ Skillet. All of these items have a nonstick interior. The nonstick interior allows food to slide off and makes cleanup quick and easy. All of them also have soft grippy handles. The rubberized dual-riveted handles are comfortable and oven safe to 350°F. The lids are made of tempered glass – Watch your foods cook without having to remove the lid to keep moisture locked in. Here is a picture of me with my Rachael Ray cookware set!

What Time is it? Check Your NOOKA

Are you young and hip? Do you like luxury brands but think that a Rolex is better suited for your Dad? Check out NOOKA!

NOOKA is a relatively new company, it was founded in December 2005 in New York City, however NOOKA has offices worldwide including Japan and Europe. NOOKA  was founded by designer Matthew Waldman, they mostly design and produce watches that are primarily focused on the intersection of design and technology. With NOOKA you don’t need to know how to tell time like on an old school watch, they display readouts of bars, lines and dots representing a visual progression of time instead of using the hour and minute hands.

NOOKA’s first time pieces ever designed and successfully manufactured were the Zoo and Zot series of timepieces.  They were such a success that in 2010, the Zoo series and Zot series were inducted into the JIDA (Japan Industrial Designers’ Association) Design Museum as part of the Vol. 12 Selection. NOOKA doesn’t just make watches, though, they also make sunglasses,  bags, belts, figurines, wallets, and they are working on many other projects that haven’t even been reveled yet.

NOOKA has been featured in many publications. Just last month, NOOKA’s watch called the NOOKRONO was featured in June’s Issue of GQ, and NOOKA was also called “One of the best digital watch brands out there” by Highsnobiety.

Unfortunately for me, my very favorite NOOKA design is the Zot V-Series Galaxy watch – it has been discontinued for a long time, and they are pretty much impossible to find. It’s truly a work of beauty, with a galaxy inspired pattern all over the face and strap. Bring it back, NOOKA! Please!

You too can own an awesome NOOKA watch! There are different models, types, and colors on DealDash, book your Bid Buddy, and sit back and enjoy the watching and bidding in the auction. However, also remember, if you have bid up the auction to the point of retail price you should go ahead and hit the “Buy It Now” (BIN) button, because when you BIN the item for the retail price you get every single one of your bids back, immediately. You can then use the bids all over again to try and win another auction. Good luck and Happy Bidding, everyone!

Petco -Where the Pets Go

What do most DealDashers have in common? Pets!!

At least, reading people’s little bios and looking at so many different pet avatars it would seem like most DealDashers have at least one pet, if not more. I’ve seen bios referring to cats, dogs, birds, and even some more exotic pets like lizards and goats! I don’t personally have any exotic pets like that, but I do have two tanks of saltwater fish. And I don’t know about you, but the very first place I think of when it comes to getting pet supplies is Petco!

Petco has just about every item that I have ever needed or wanted, and even more items that I didn’t even know existed until I saw them in the store. They have pet supplies for just about every pet including your average cat, dog, and fish but also ferrets, rats, turtles, hermit crabs, and more!

When you think of a national chain pet store you might think that their offices are only thinking about the “bottom line”, but Petco is actually has a “Think Adoption First” philosophy, which means they always recommend that anyone who is looking to add a new pet to their family to first consider adopting a companion animal in need of a new home, rather than purchasing one – even from a Petco store. Petco and the Petco Foundation work with more than 8,000 local animal-welfare partners to find homes for more than 250,000 animals every year through in-store adoption events. Petco has never sold dogs or cats. They do however have ferrets, hamsters, bunnies, and more available to purchase.

In case this is the first time that you have heard about the Petco Foundation, They are an independent nonprofit organization, and they have raised more than $125 million since it was created in 1999 to help promote and improve the welfare of companion animals. Petco and the Petco Foundation work with and support thousands of local animal welfare groups across the country to host in-store adoption events and help find homes for adoptable dogs, cats, and other companion animals. That’s what I call “Thinking Adoption First.”

My favorite thing about Petco versus the other major pet retailer in my area is that Petco actually has saltwater fish and corals. I can get the exact same type of Clownfish (Ocellaris) for $10 at Petco that I could also get at my local fish store, except they charge almost double the price! I will go with the $10 Petco Clownfish every time. Also, Petco has consistently lower prices on dry goods such as salt mix, fish food, and fish medications. I foolishly bought a coral medication at my local fish store over the weekend for $24.99, and when I compared the price at Petco today I realized that I could have gotten it $5 cheaper. Lesson learned – check the Petco price before buying anything at a local shop.

Luckily for us pet-loving DealDashers DealDash now has Petco gift cards available! They come in $10 and $25 denominations, and you can spend the gift cards in store as well as online. They are really convenient, and since I know that I am always going to have an occasion to spend $10 or $25 in Petco I always bid them up to the limit. Give it a try, you never know when you might get lucky!

Are You “Ready 2 Fish?”

Now that we have finally entered the thralls of Summer it’s time for a time-honored summer tradition…Fishing!

“Are You Ready 2 Fish?” was the questions that I posed in the title, and if you are an avid fisher you must know that I am referring to the “Ready 2 Fish” sporting goods company. Ready 2 Fish has all sorts of different fishing supplies that are an integral part of the fishing hobby.

The Ready2Fish company has been around for quite some time, they created the original and complete combo fishing system over 20 years ago to help make fishing affordable, fun and easy for families and the casual fisher. Fishing is the simple, inexpensive way to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. Luckily for us, Ready 2 Fish makes it hassle and worry-free so you can focus on the fun, the fish and the great memories you create with your family.

Not only does Ready 2 Fish help the average family be able to afford to outfit the whole family with affordable gear, they also have a philanthropic side, as well. Ready 2 Fish helps empower women by donating a portion of every pink Ready 2 Fish product purchase to the Bright Pink organization. This contribution will further support the Bright Pink mission of breast and ovarian health education while providing women a new way to be active and enjoy their life even more for a better, brighter future. Now isn’t that something special?

A lovely example of one of the Ready 2 Fish pink products would be the The Pink Spin Combo Ready 2 Fish performance series kit. This particular combo was designed for the female angler. The rod is 5-ft 6-in, and is a 2-pc Medium/Light Spin Rod. This rod has a Split Grip Handle. The reel is even pre-spooled to make things even easier to get started.

If you’re just getting started into the fishing hobby, one of the first thing that you are going to need besides a rod and reel is a tackle box. The Ready To Fish 136-Piece 2 Tray Tackle Box would be a great place to start. The pack includes just about everything that you need to get started – 136 sturdy pieces that includes various sizes of  tackle box with various trays, jig heads, 3/0 & 7 split shot, poly stringer, lures, 30 size 2 bait holder hooks, two 6″ curl tail worms, various sizes of  curl tail grubs, 31 each size 4 & 6 bait holder hooks, one hook disgorger, weights, swivels, and floats. All the pieces are neatly arranged in a box. Now that’s a lot of fishing fun waiting to be had right there!

If you would like to introduce your family to a great family-friendly hobby, how about starting with a Ready 2 Fish product? Head on over to DealDash and check out the upcoming Ready 2 Fish auctions. If you see one you are interested in, go ahead and hit the blue “Alert Me” button and DealDash will send you a quick email when one becomes available. Good luck and happy bidding everyone, set your Bid Buddies and go out and enjoy the beautiful summer weather!

Nikon, the Grandfather of Modern Photography

Nikon has been a cornerstone brand of the photography industry for decades. Isn’t it time you picked one up?

Nikon has been around for YEARS. It was actually originally founded in 1917 under the name Japan Optical Industries Co., Ltd, but they changed their name to Nikon in 1988 after the huge successes that they had with their cameras. And talk about success! For nearly 30 years, Nikon’s F-series SLRs were the most widely used small-format cameras among professional photographers as well as by the U.S. space program. Nikon popularized many features in professional SLR photography, such as the modular camera system with interchangeable lenses, viewfinders, motor drives, and data backs; integrated light metering and lens indexing; electronic strobe flashguns instead of expendable flashbulbs; electronic shutter control; evaluative multi-zone “matrix” metering; and built-in motorized film advance. Basically, when you think of any film-based SLR camera, Nikon was there first, offering the features that we all care about.

Let’s talk about the different Nikons that are available. My personal dream camera is the Nikon D3300 DSLR camera. Being kind of a girly-girl, I absolutely adore the fact that this camera comes in a beautiful red color. But besides the colors, it comes with an awesome AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens. This lens is capable of capturing things with ease, right down to the tiniest detail, it captures high-resolution images up to 6000 x 4000 pixels. That’s way more pixels than you will ever need, no matter how many birthdays, graduations, or vacations you might be attending and be “VolunTold” to take pictures of with your awesome Nikon camera. This particular camera also has a 3″ LCD screen, records in HD video, and has Optical Image Stabilization to reduce the effects of camera shake and vibration to minimize blurring in your shots.

After you have gotten your Nikon camera, be it the D3300, the D3200, or whichever model you are interested in, the next step you might want to take is to get some different lenses for your new camera. The lens that your Nikon comes with will be a great all-purpose lens, but if you need something more specialized, here are a few choices available from DealDash:

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 Lens

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Telephoto Zoom Lens

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Standard Zoom Lens

If you are interested in a Nikon camera or any of it’s many accessories such as an external flash,  head on over to DealDash. You can find Nikon cameras in different models, book your Bid Buddy, and sit back and enjoy the watching and bidding in the auction.
