Be Kind to the Newbies on DealDash

Everyone was a newbie at DealDash at one time, so let’s try and make our new arrivals feel welcome.

Once upon a time I was a newbie on DealDash, and while I felt intimidated by all of the other thousands of DealDash members that bid on auctions each day I was lucky enough to never run into anyone that made me feel unwelcome.

Quite the contrary, I actually was “given” a few auctions when I was new. I didn’t realize it at the time, but looking back I now realize that older, wiser bidders conceded a few auctions to me when I was fresh on DealDash and they could see that my sign up date was within the past few days. I wish I had caught their DealDash user names so I could thank them publically, but that was years ago and I have a terrible memory. So instead I try to “pay it forward” when I get a chance to help out a newbie that has only been bidding on DealDash for a few days. I would hate to be the person that scared off a DealDash newbie.

If you are a newbie and are reading this blog in hope of learning some DealDash tips, let me give you an important tip to take away with you – give respect to other bidders and they should give respect back to you. If you are a total newbie to DealDash one of the biggest ways to show respect to your fellow bidders is to not “jump” on other people’s bids. Jumping on someone’s bid basically means to bid immediately after someone without letting the first person’s “time clock” run down to a couple of seconds. You see, not all newbies know this, but DealDash does a wonderful thing for their bidders – for every second that someone is the highest bidder in an auction they earn “free time” that is shown at a bar on the bottom of the screen. When the bar is filled up then DealDash will give you however many free bids that you are eligible to “claim.”

When a bidder “jumps the clock” and bids right away after someone else does it usually makes the other person very annoyed, and depending on the person they may overbid on the auction just to win to spite you. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but when a bidder feels disrespected on DealDash a lot of them tend to retaliate by overbidding. It’s also possible that they might remember your user name and re-pay the bid jumping in a future auction. Just to be on the safe side I would wait until there are only 2-3 seconds left on the time clock before you throw in your bid if you are bidding manually instead of using the BidBuddy.

DealDash Bidding as a Family

 

Bidding on DealDash can be a wonderful family activity. DealDash is available 24/7 for your entertainment.

If you think of DealDash as a solo activity, why not try sharing your bidding experience with your family? It can be very fun to pick out things to bid on together as a family. If you have kids that are trying to learn how to do math, how about getting them to help you in deciding how many bids you should place to reach the BIN (Buy It Now) price? If there is a birthday coming up in your family it could be very fun and exciting to have your kids help you pick out a present on DealDash, and then bid on it together.
Other than picking out presents for people, there are a few categories on DealDash that would definitely be of interest to other family members. I’ll go through the categories below that I feel might interest certain family members.
Fashion, Health, and Beauty – This category is great for mom, grandma, your wife, aunt, or even daughter. There are so many awesome things in this section, it’s one of my favorites. There are hair accessories and products, massagers, purses, and even jewelry and watches. Electronics and Computers – Most husbands, uncles, brothers, and dads would probably be interested in the Electronics and Computers category. There are always computers and tablets in this this section, however there are also a lot of other exciting and unique things to find in this category. For instance, this is where you can find bluetooth speakers. That would be a really fun thing to bid on. In this category you can also find cameras and camera accessories, phones, phone chargers, and phone cases, and let’s not forget video game systems and the games to go with them! Home, Garden, and Tools – This is another section that is great for a lot of people in your life. There are items for everyone from your sister to your uncle to your grandma in this category. This category offers the outdoor tools and accessories that are great for your handy projects, and also for the gardener in your life. Just think, of you supply a gardener you know with gardening items I bet you will get an excellent return on your investment with fruits and veggies!  Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games – This section is awesome for not only kids, but also for sports lovers. I have gotten my kids (and my husband) so many sports items and toys from this category. Here is where you and your family can bid on basketball hoops, bikes, grills, toys, games, and Lego. Looking at the Fashion, Health, & Beauty DealDash Category

You might be surprised at what is in the Fashion, Health, and Beauty section. Let’s see what we can find.

   The Fashion, Health, and Beauty category has always been one of my favorites! Let’s break it down into each section. The items are each very different but all follow the common theme of either fashion, health, or beauty.
  Fashion – While it’s fairly rare that DealDash has a lot of clothing up for auction, there is occasionally a piece of clothing for your wardrobe. My theory of why DealDash rarely has clothing up for auction is because everyone is a different size, and there would be no way to select your size after winning. Also, a size medium in one brand can be a vastly different size of a medium in a different brand. When we are speaking of fashion on DealDash we are mostly talking about jewelry, watches, purses, hats, and backpacks.
  Health – Health items on DealDash tend to be of the pampering kind, such as foot massagers, Back massagers, and even extremely fancy “dream” massage chairs. As in, it’s only a dream for most people to own one. The health part of the Fashion, Health, and Beauty category includes some practical health items as well such as blood pressure monitors, electronic toothbrushes, digital thermometers, and even fitness trackers.
  Beauty – The beauty in the Fashion, Health, and Beauty category includes such things as perfume, hair dryers, flat iron hair straighteners, make up brushes, and more. These are my personal favorite items on the entire DealDash site, because I normally don’t treat myself to things just for me, but when I win one of these great beauty items I am very happy to receive it.
  So there it is, a quick overview of my favorite section, the Fashion, Health, and Beauty category. Let’s Look at the DealDash Categories

You might be surprised at what is hiding in the different DealDash categories. Let’s take a peek.

 
Bid Packs – Okay, there really is no hidden mystery about bid packs! They come in standard sized packs of 25, 40, 60, 80, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 800, 1000, 1500, 3000, and sometimes 5000.
Electronics and Computers – Computers and tablets rule this section, however there are also a lot of other awesome and surprising things to find here in this category. For instance, this is where you can find full sized keyboards! That would be a really fun thing to bid on. In this section is also where you can find cameras and camera accessories, phones, phone chargers, and phone cases, and let’s not forget video game systems and the games to go with them!
Fashion, Health, and Beauty – This particular category has always been one of my favorites! It’s actually gotten a major makeover recently, and not instead of just having the standard things that you might expect such as hair dryers, flat iron hair straighteners, and other “girly” type stuff now Fashion, Health and Beauty boasts some impressive massage chairs, foot massagers, jewelry, and designer bags. Those massage chairs are amazing, I have demoed similar ones in the store, and they practically had to kick me out for overstaying my welcome.
Gift Cards – Again, no real surprises in the Gift Card section. However, there are a lot of really useful and fun gift cards here. There are gift cards for the kids such as Toys R Us, gift cards for Mom and Grandma such as Bath and Body Works, gift cards for Dad and Grandpa such as Bass Pro Shops, and gift cards that the whole family can enjoy such as Target, Wal*Mart, CVS, and many more.
Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games – This section is another favorite of mine. I have gotten my kids so many fun things from this section. Here is where you will find classic favorites such as bikes, grills, luggage, baby items, and Lego – but you will also find new and interesting things such as the new wheeled “hoverboards” that are so popular right now.
Home, Garden, and Tools – This is another section that has gotten a major makeover recently. It used to offer mostly daily use items such as garden hoses, tool sets, and vacuum cleaners – but now it offers those items as well as high end designer furniture and accessories. If you haven’t been to the Home, Garden, and Tools section recently, go check it out.
Kitchen and Dining – I have gotten almost all of my kitchen items here, from my pots and pans to my bamboo spoon set. This is a great section to replace anything that you need in your kitchen, from the more expensive things like stand mixers, to the cheaper things like dish drainers. You might even want to treat yourself to a fancy knife set, because this section offers that, too!
