It’s an Egg-selent Time of Year

This week marks the start of a great time of year: Easter and the beginning of Spring! Days are getting longer, tempratures across the country are rising, and folks are preparing for Easter.

Easter, also known as Resurrection Sunday, is a holiday celebrated by Chistians around the world that marks the ressurection of Jesus. Apart from being an important religious holiday, it’s an important family holiday, too. Many Americans have family traditions that they take part in to celebrate. For example, do you remember waiting in line at the mall to meet the Easter Bunny? How about hunting for Easter Eggs with your friends or cousins at a large family gathering? Easter has become such a popular holiday, that now many non-Christians love celebrating the day by partaking in child-friendly activities like painting Easter eggs, hunting for Easter eggs, or gathering the family together to eat a nice meal of traditional Easter food, like turkey or lamb.

Dress the part and celebrate on DealDash

Easter is not just a holiday that has traditional activities; there are traditional Easter outfits, too! Many folks remember their parents or grandparents forcing them to wear bright pastel-colored jumpers or shirts. And some, especially those from the south, know all about the importance of the Easter Dress. Way back when, traditional Easter clothing consited of white linen robes, which sybbolized the rebirth of Christ. A Brave New Bidding World

The one constant to life is change.

This famous quote, uttered by Greek philosopher Heraclitus, touches on the fluid nature of things. Change is happening all the time and is all around us! Bob Dylan shared this sentiment in his hit, The times they are a-Changing, a song recorded sixty years ago in 1963 that still resonates today.

Change can be exciting, but what if you are one of the many people who natually resists change? If this is the case, no need to worry. Some scientists state that being resistant to change is natural, and quite common! In fact, our brains might even be hardwired for it.

You probably are wondering why the DealDash Blog is talking about ancient Greek philosphers and Bob Dylan. Well, as you might have guessed by now, DealDash is changing things up in a big way!

Don’t worry, our low prices, great deals, and awesome product selection will remain the same. However, without further ado, it is time to introduce some of the big changes that might soon become your favorite part of DealDash.

Overload Auctions

Overload auctions are one of the new kinds of auctions launching on DealDash.

In auctions marked with the Overload icon, you can only book a maximum of 100 bids to the auction at any given time. You can top up your booked bids as often as you like, assuming you have less than 100 bids booked to the auction. If you try booking more than 100 bids to the auction, 100 bids are added, but the rest of the bids are left in your account.

How will Overload auctions change your bidding strategy? Only one way to find out; look for the icon indicating an Overload Auction (pictued above) and see for yourself!

Triple Booked Auctions

DealDash will be launching a new group of auctions; Triple-booked auctions. This new class of auctions could also change your bidding strategy in a big way.

You can only participate in three auctions marked with the Triple-Booked icon simultaneously. You can place single bids in as many Triple-Booked Auctions as you want, given that you have bids booked in two or fewer Triple-Booked Auctions. Once you have bids booked in three auctions, you can only bid in other Triple-Booked auctions if you cancel the bids booked in one auction. Placing single bids in Triple-Booked auctions where you have bids booked is possible. Participating in the Triple-Booked Auctions does not affect the number of regular auctions you can participate in.

Triple-booked auctions and Overload auctions are just a couple of many new kids of auctions that you will see soon on DealDash.

A more rewarding experience than ever!

It’s not just the auctions that are changing. We are introducing new ways to collect rewards! These new features will not replace the rewards you already love, like Time as Highest Bidder, and Daily Challenges. Instead, they are an added bonus to the things you already love.

Progress Meter

Meet the Progress Meter, one of the newest ways to earn more rewards. The progress meter can be found on the event page when there is an ongoing event or on the Rewards and Challenges page.

To get rewards from the progress meter, you need to complete challenges that give you progress points as the reward. Read carefully – some of the challenges might take more than one day to complete!

Event Leaderboards

Some events use a site-wide leaderboard to give rewards depending on where you are placed when the event ends. This is separate from the regular Auction leaderboards, so don’t get mixed up!

Leaderboards use points to rank bidders, and you can collect points in different ways depending on the event. For example, some leaderboard events count the number of bids placed in the event auctions, and others the total time as the highest bidder.

You can claim your rewards from the Progress Meter or Leaderboards after the event. Don’t worry: If you leave the rewards unclaimed, they can be claimed on your Coupons & Gift Cards page.

Discover a Wonderland of Online Auctions

You might read the title of this blog and think that it’s a little late to be talking about a wonderland. After all, the word wonderland is most commonly associated with winter. You can thank Bing Crosby for this association: He sang perhaps one of the most famous Christmas songs of all time, Winter Wonderland, released in 1962.

Or maybe, the word wonderland reminds you of a young girl named Alice who went down the rabbit hole and met a cheshire cat and played croquete with flamingo.

Lewis Carroll’s famous book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was published in 1862. It depicts a magical land that is not bound by the rules of the everyday world that we know. The wonderland that Carroll dreamt up is so fantastical that the book has been adapted into countless theatrical works and films and is still popular today, over 150 years after it was written!

We’ve not been around long enough to celebrate 150 years of online auction awesomeness, but we have celebrated some important anniversaries and are looking forward to many more! So while we cannot compete with the longevity of Bing Crosby’s Winter Wonderland, or the world that Lewis Carroll dreamt up for Alice, we feel we have a very special Wonderland to tell you about; our Auction Wonderland Promotion that is happening this week (January 30th through February 5th).

An online auction wonderland

This week DealDash is transformed into an auction wonderland that would make Alice’s head spin. For starters, bids are on sale all week, with prices as low as 12 cents per bid! The bid price does vary—bids are not 12 cents each all week. So be sure to check from time to time this week to give yourself a chance to buy bids at the lowest possible price.

You will also notice some exciting twists to the DealDash online auctions that you already know and love.

For starters, there is an increased Time as Highest Bidder multiplier of up to 3X being offered on select days. This means that you will fill up your bidding meter more quickly and be fastracked to higher bidding levels and more free bids.

Also, you can enjoy two other popular types of online auctions; our Leaderboard Auctions and Runner-up Auctions. Leaderboard auctions give free bids to those who collect the most Time as Highest Bidder in an auction, and the Runner-up auctions give a special Buy It Now discount to the ibdder who finishes in 2nd place.

A week to discover online auctions and new items

Next Monday marks the start of DealDash’s Discovery Week Event. This exciting promotion offers bidpacks on sale and also the exciting online auction twists seen this week during the Auction Wonderland Sale, like Runer-up auctions and Leaderboard auctions. But that is not all. Discovery week gets its name from the fact that there are many exciting products and online auctions for you to participate in.

Variety is the name of the game during Discovery Week, and you will notice a very high number of different items to bid on. Unlike auction blasts, where many auctions for the same item all begin at once, Discovery Week will have auctions for many different items running at the same time. In other words, you will have a lot of different items to choose from because DealDash’s great item selection that you already enjoy is taken to the next level. From jewelry to watches to tools to electronics, odds are that you will be able to find it in a DealDash online auction during Discovery Week.

Together we raised $8,491 for the American Red Cross

The whole DealDash Team would like to give a heartfelt thank you to each and every bidder that paid for an auction win on Thursday, December 15th.

On the 15th, we ran a special promotion where the sum of all won auction payments (excluding cars) would be donated to Red Cross America to help folks in need.

And with your help, we raised $8,491! The wonderful community of DealDashers paid for 884 auctions on December 15th, which made such an amazing and generous donation possible.

So once again, on behalf of all of us here at DealDash, thanks again for coming through and making this year’s charity promotion the best one yet.

Let’s Work Together To Help a Noble Cause

The holidays should be the happiest time of the year. A time where people can come together to create special moments as the stress of everyday life fades away. Unfortunately, not everyone experiences the holidays this way. How can someone worry about what New Year’s party to attend when their home was destroyed by a natural disaster?

Sometimes it’s too easy to forget about the struggles that others are facing. In an effort to try and make the Holiday Season as good as it can be for those going through tough times, we are working with the American Red Cross to assist those in need. And we want you to help by participating in a very special promotion this Thursday.

DealDash will donate the fnal sum of all auction wins (excluding car auctions) that are paid for on December 15th to the American Red Cross. More about the American Red Cross

There are many charities that offer help American’s in need. In fact, DealDash has offered special promotions in the past that donate to charity. Last year, we donated to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation which gives gear and equipment to firehouses and response teams.

This year, we are proud to be able to help the American Red Cross in their mission. If you are not familiar with the values of the American Red Cross, their mission statement is worth reading. To summarize, the American Red Cross follows a set of values that they call the “Five Cs”: Compassionate, Credible, Collaborative, Committed, and Creative.

They are compassionate in serving those in need and treating them with care and respect.
