DealDash Donates to the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare

Today, December 6th 2017, is a very special day for the country of Finland. They are celebrating their 100th anniversary as an independent country. Finns achieved independence on December 6, 1917. The country celebrates its 100th year with multiple events in Finland and all around the world.

The theme for the celebratory year is “Together,” showing that everyone – Finns and friends of Finns – is welcome to take part, just as creating and building the nation were joint efforts.

The DealDash team wants to get behind this great celebration. With your help, we aim to show our support to those who need it the most in the country on Finland. We will donate all auction wins paid on December 6th 2017 to the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare.

The Mannerheim League is the largest child welfare organization in Finland. They promote the wellbeing of children and of families with children, increases respect for childhood and seeks to make it more visible, and sees that children’s views are taken into account in public decision-making.

DealDash has offices in Helsinki, Finland, and Minnesota, USA, and wants to contribute to the local communities. That is why, on special occasions, DealDash donates the final auction sales prices to various charities, that are important locally, both in the US and Finland. For example, on September 10th 2017, DealDash donated $8,900 to the American Red Cross relief fund to help people affected by hurricane Irma.

Thanks for being a part of this celebration. By paying for your auction wins today, you will help children all over Finland!

DealDash Resolutions – 2018 Edition

Before we know it, the holiday season will be just a blur in our rearview mirrors and a new year will be upon us. In the new year, I’ve decided to take a look at my past year and make a few new DealDash resolutions. Take a look at how I’m re-vamping my DealDash style in 2018:

  1. Implementing new strategiesThis one is difficult for most of us, myself included. I have a certain way that I bid and I am comfortable with that. In 2018, I’m making the resolution to try new strategies like: trying a different day and time, bidding mid-auction, or heaven forbid—late auction! You never know what will work and when. You just have to give it a try.

  1. Standing strongExperienced bidders can be very intimidating but statistics show they don’t win all the auctions they bid on. Are there a few that seem to? Yes. Here’s the thing: More times than I can recall I have seen experienced bidders jump into an auction late and I will exit the auction almost immediately because the chances of me winning against a big bidder are usually slim to none. However, I have also watched these experienced bidders then mysteriously pop back out of the auction after just a few bids, and the other person wins. Silly me—I should have stayed in the auction and not been so intimidated. Lesson learned. I won’t be as intimidated in 2018.

  1. Investing more bids – No one likes to spend a ton of bids because bids cost money. I try to limit myself to a certain number of bids on each auction, depending on the value and popularity of the item. In 2018, I’m going to go a little bit further and see if increasing my bids results in more wins.

  1. Sticking to the No. 1 RuleOnly bidding on things you really want to win is the No. 1 rule at DealDash (other than always using BidBuddy, that is). It’s hard to do because it’s always nice to win an item to exchange to bids and have more bids in your bank. But what if your investment in winning items to get more bids fails and you waste your bids and then don’t have the bids you need to win the items you really want? That is a bummer and I’ve done it myself. But in 2018, I’m really making an effort to stick to things I really want to win 80 percent of the time.

  1. Shake things up– I have found that it is true with me and others that we are creatures of habit. We stick to the same categories and don’t deviate much from our “norm.” If we have success with bidding on items from the jewelry category, that is where we tend to stay. You will find by watching other bidders that they also tend to stick to similar categories: bid packs, handmade bags and the like. In 2018, I’m breaking out of my norm and trying my hand at other categories I have yet to try.

  1. Preparing for the holidays earlierThis year I’m starting in January. That’s right. By October 2018, I will have effectively stocked all the Christmas gifts I want in the closet by winning a few bids a month and putting those items away for holiday gift giving. The early bird gets the DealDash stash.

I hope you have some great DealDash resolutions of your own for 2018 and hope you are wildly successful in your auction bids.

Four Things to Remember and One Thing Never to Forget

While Shopping for Holiday Gifts on DealDash

I will admit that I have been winning a few items a month to stash away for Christmas gifts for the past few months. Even though I pretty much have what I need for gift-giving, it’s almost impossible not to see something new on DealDash that catches my eye that I’d love to give as a gift. Below is my list of things to remember while shopping for holiday gifts on DealDash:

Read Item Descriptions – Here you can find out size dimensions and materials and other helpful information on the items you’re bidding on. Click on additional photos to see greater detail of each item and to determine if they are packaged in a box that would be great for gift presentation.

Up Your Strategy When Bidding – Holiday season is the busiest shopping time of the year, whether you’re shopping in the stores, buying online or bidding on DealDash. Know that there are other like-minded folks like you who are also trying to snag a great deal. Plan accordingly through increased number of bids, different days and times when  you bid or other strategy.

Utilize BidBuddy – It never fails that whenever I’m trying to keep an eye on my bids and really watch the progress and action of an auction, I get called away or distracted. There have been several times when stepping away for a few moments  cost me a win. Now I always use BidBuddy and top off if I know I have to step away.

Utilize the Buy It Now Option – It’s sometimes hard to stick to the No. 1 rule on DealDash and that is to only bid on items you truly want to win. One of the reasons behind this rule is that if it’s an item you truly want and you happen to lose the auction, you can always use the Buy It Now option, pay retail price for the item and get all the bids you placed into the auction back into your bid bank. It’s a complete win-win for bidders.

…And Never Forget – DealDash has amazing items and opportunities to win those items every single day of the year, 24 hours a day! If you don’t win the items you want in time for Christmas this year, just put them on your list and start winning a couple of items a month and to put away for next year’s holiday season.

Happiest of holidays to all and happy bidding on DealDash!

Thinking About DealDash Holiday Donations

DealDash

The holiday season is upon us. It’s time to start thinking about what you can win on DealDash to donate.

DealDash is the perfect place to win some things to donate to the less fortunate this holiday season. There are lots of things that would be just right thing that people could love and get lots of use out of. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Winning Toys to Donate

Since Christmas is most children’s favorite holiday, it only makes sense to make special plans to get toys to donate. Children of all ages, birth on up love to unwrap toys and gifts, so why not make some less fortunate kids happy this holiday season.

There are many different choices of toys on DealDash. There are things like night lights and stuffed animals for younger kids, Lego sets for bigger kids, and video games and electronics for teens. Remember, just because these teens aren’t adorable little kids anymore doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t love to open up a present on Christmas morning.

Where Can I Donate?

If you’re looking for a place to donate your DealDash wins, that’s easy. Toys For Tots is a wonderful and worthy cause that will be happy to take your new and unwrapped toys. There are many Toys For Tots donation drop-offs. You can find a Toys For Tots drop-off location at Toysfortots.org.

Donating items to a family instead of just one child can be a nice thing to do as well. You can pick a family from the “Angel Tree” at your local mall or church. The Angel Tree donations are run by the Salvation Army. So if you’d like to donate to the Angel Tree program but can’t find a tree to pick from, then just look up your local Salvation Army’s website.

My personal favorite place to donate to during the holiday season is social services, the agency that takes care of foster children. On any given day, there are over 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. DealDash has not only toys, but also clothing, shoes, and grooming items, all of which could be very useful for a child or teen in foster care.

BidBuddy Helps You Donate

If you’re wondering how to win these items for less fortunate children, the answer is clear – use the BidBuddy! The BidBuddy is available to every bidder, free of charge. You can use him to help in any auction, even auctions that are happening at the same time.

The BidBuddy is easy to use as well. Simply open up any DealDash auction that you’re interested in bidding on, and in the middle of the screen, you will see a space and a button that says “Book a Bid Buddy”. Click on the space that says “add bids here” and put in the number of bids that you are willing to spend on this particular DealDash auction. Then hit enter. The BidBuddy is the best way to win auctions to donate to the less fortunate on DealDash.

Thanks for Reading the DealDash Blog

Personally, I have identified a family at my children’s school that needs a little extra help this year. I plan on donating gift cards to them this year so that they can get their three children presents.

If you don’t find it immediately then you might want to use similar phrases to find what you’re looking for. For example, if you’re looking for a new pair of shoes you can try a few different keywords.

Want Bids Back? BIN and Receive Your Bids

Finding what you want on DealDash is fun, but we can’t win all the time. However, you can always BIN (Buy It Now) and get your bids back from the auction. To BIN an auction means that you pay retail price for the thing that you didn’t win, and you receive back all of the bids that you placed to use again, as well as free shipping on the product. It doesn’t matter what the price of the auction is, or how many bids that you spent, you can do a BIN on any DealDash item as long as you have placed at least one bid. When you don’t win an auction, BINning is the next best option.
