Ahhh Spring! Baby Kittens, Baby Puppies, and Baby DealDashers!

Spring is right around the corner, flowers will be in bloom, baby animals everywhere will be born, and DealDash will be getting more Newbies.

DealDash loves their Newbies! As an older and more seasoned DealDasher, I personally like all of the Newbies, as long as they follow the rules – the official rules as well as the rules of courtesy in the Land of DealDash. If you’re one of DealDash’s Newbies, please read on so you can educate yourself on the official rules as well as the “unofficial” rules that most of us older DealDashers try to follow to keep everything fun and friendly.

There is a full and complete list of the official rules on DealDash, if you would like to read them on the official site, then please follow this link here. However, here are the most common rules that I feel that Newbies should familiarize themselves with so they don’t accidentally get into trouble with DealDash and lose their bidding privileges:

  • Each person can only have 1 account, no exceptions.
  • You can win up to 9 auctions per week. The system will not allow you to bid after you have reached your limit. All remaining BidBuddies will be automatically cancelled and your bids will be returned to your account.

As I said, there are a few other official rules, but I feel that these two rules that I have listed above are the most common things that new bidders might have questions about.

Now, let’s talk about “unofficial rules.” The rules that I am going to list next are NOT official DealDash rules, you will NOT lose your bidding privileges if you don’t follow them – they are just a few suggestions that you might want to follow so you don’t upset a fellow DealDasher without realizing it! However, if you want to ignore these suggestions as part of your bidding strategy, that’s fine as well. Just remember – some older and more seasoned DealDashers with tons of wins under their belts will sometimes “throw a win” to a Newbie if they have only invested a few bids. However, if you do something to annoy them then I have seen people purposefully overbid to prove a point.

  • Do not “stomp”. Stomping is when you bid immediately after someone else without letting the clock timer run down to 2 or 3 seconds. Every second that a bidder is listed as the “highest bidder” they get “clock time” which adds up and can eventually be traded for free bids from DealDash. When you stomp on another bidder’s bid and cheat them out of their clock time people tend to get aggravated.
  • Do not “jump.” Being a Jumper means that you don’t put your first bid in until the auction is moments away from being closed to new bidders. For example, the limit is almost always $5, and then after that the auction is closed to anyone who hasn’t yet put in at least one bid. If you wait until $4.97, $4.98, $4.99, etc before you put in your first bid people might consider you a Jumper and be annoyed. However, I think most bidders also realize sometimes you didn’t decide to bid on the auction before the limit was almost up, or you didn’t see the auction until it was almost too late – but if you jump in at $4.99 every single time you bid in an auction then you might get a reputation as a Jumper, and that’s not really a title that most people want!
  • Don’t write rude things in your bio. Your bio is a sentence that you can write about yourself that will pop up with your avatar every time that you bid. Most people write fairly innocuous things like “I love to bid!” or “Bidding for my Grandkids!” but I have seen some people write things that border on being rude, such as “Don’t bother bidding, I’m going to crush your bids.” or “I’m going to bid until I win, I don’t care how much it costs, so give up now.” Those examples that I gave are fictional, but I have seen similar things, and I always wonder why people purposely try to make enemies, this is supposed to be a fun website – entertainment shopping!

Those are the important things to think about when you are just starting to bid on DealDash, but also helpful to remember, if you have over-bid and reached the BIN price, use the “Buy it Now” option and pay retail price for the item. DealDash will then refund all of the bids you used on that item, and you can try again another day. This is really a great win-win situation for everyone.

So newbie DealDashers, those are just a few helpful rules and suggestions for your first few times playing on DealDash. Remember to pay attention to the rules, check out the auctions and see what you would really like to bid on, and try some easier auctions to start! See you on DealDash everyone! Good luck and happy bidding.

Care For Some Tea?

Who likes tea? If you’re like 4 out of 5 Americans, then you’re at least a casual tea drinker.

You would be in good company if you agree that you like to drink tea – in 2014, Americans consumed over 80 billion servings of tea, or more than 3.60 billion gallons. About 84% of all tea consumed was Black Tea, 15% was Green Tea, and the small remaining amount was Oolong, White and Dark Tea. USA is the second largest importer of tea after Russia. As I said above, Approximately four in five consumers drink tea, with Millennials being the most likely (87% of millenniums drink tea).

On any given day, over one half of the American population drinks tea. On a regional basis, the South and Northeast have the greatest concentration of tea drinkers. As a former Southerner, I know that this fun fact is true – approximately 85% of tea consumed in America is iced.

Luckily for us tea drinkers DealDash realizes the importance of tea to Americans, and that’s why they offer up a large and varied selection of tea and tea accessories. Let’s see what we can find up for auction to satisfy your favorite tea drinker that you know.

If you’re an iced tea drinker like myself, you might be interested in the Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker. The Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker brews gourmet iced tea quickly and efficiently with one simple touch. Just add water (preferably filtered) to the reservoir, add loose tea leaves or tea bags to the brew basket, add ice to the pitcher, and press brew. The Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker makes up to 2.5 quarts of iced tea, and you can also regulate the strength of the tea. It’s also easy to keep clean – the glass pitcher, brew basket and permanent filter can be washed in the dishwasher. If you’re interested in some awesome iced tea brewed from home, check it out at this link here.

If you’re more of a creative do-it-yourself-er type, let’s see what sort of great things that DealDash has to offer so you can make up your own gift baskets for a child or a young at heart adult. I personally love making up my own gift baskets for my children, but I know that not everyone has time for that. If you do have time to make up your own baskets, read on to get a few ideas.

To start off with, of course you need some type of basket. I think that it makes great sense to use this adorable Monster High bike basket, because not only can it hold the Easter goodies, after Easter is done, then the child can get some use out of the basket instead of just throwing it away. Here is a link to that particular basket here.

After you have secured yourself a basket, you have to think to yourself “Huumm, what does this person really like?” For a smaller kid that might mean a Barbie doll or maybe a small Lego set, but for an older child it might mean a gift card to somewhere like Gamestop or Target.

DealDash Helps Prevent Boredom

As someone who just had stomach surgery this week I am bedridden for another few days. DealDash helps me from becoming too bored.

That’s why they call it “Entertainment Shopping.” DealDash helps in two distinct ways to overcome boredom. The first way, of course, is just by bidding and winning on DealDash itself.

I don’t know about you, but personally I can spend hours at a time on DealDash without even bidding! I love to look at the upcoming auctions, read the descriptions, and see what amounts of money that the item has won for in the past. If I decide that there is something that I want to bid on then I do a search to see if there are more than one of the particular item up for bid, and when it’s coming up. Then of course I bookmark the auctions that I have chosen so I remember to come back later.

I also love to look at the Winners section to see what kind of awesome deals that people have been getting that day, or alternately, who got in over their head and bid far, far too much for an item. It’s fun for me to see what people are winning as “first time winners” as well.

The second way that DealDash can help alleviate boredom, of course, is by enjoying the things that you win on DealDash! DealDash has so many wonderful things that can keep you entertained, even when you are bedridden, like myself.

A few suggestions on things that you can bid on to alleviate boredom:

  • Video Games – DealDash has a great selection of video game systems as well as the games to go with them, and other accessories like game controllers.
  • Board Games – DealDash sometimes offers board games up for auction. As long as you have someone to play board games with, they can be a lot of fun, and something that you can do from your bed.
  • DVDs/Blu-Rays – DealDash offers movies on both formats, and in a variety of genres. I’m sure that you can find a movie that you enjoy.
  • Gift Cards – What’s always fun? Shopping online! DealDash offers gift cards from a variety of retailers, and some of them can be used online such as Target, Wal*Mart, Toys r Us, etc, so you can shop from the comfort of your own bed.

It doesn’t matter if you’re sick and in bed like myself, or if you’re just bored and looking for something fun to do why don’t you check out the auctions and see what you would really like to bid on and WIN? See you on DealDash everyone! Good luck and happy bidding.
